Guide for Correcting Writing Errors

The following abbreviation represents an area of usage. It is used when your teacher marking your writing to indicate that you have made an error. Refer to this list to find out what kind of error you have made and then make the necessary correction.

Singular-Plural   (SP)	Shinta have been here for six month Shinta has been here for six months
Word Form	Rama saw a beauty girl Rama saw a beautiful girl
Word Choice	They got on the taxi They got into the taxi
Verb Tense	Kumbara is here since June Kumbara has been here since  June
Add a Word	Kumbara wants      ---       go to the cinema Kumbara wants to go to the cinema
Omit a Word	She entered to the University She entered the University
Word Order	Fanny saw five times that movie Fanny  saw that movie five  times
Incomplete Sentence	Sari went to bed.  Because she is tired Sari went to bed because she is tired.
Spelling	An accident ocurred An accident occurred
Punctuation	What did you buy.(P) What did you buy?
Capitalization	Riris is studying math Riris is studying Math
Article	Susan entered an University Susan entered a University
Meaning not clear	Rizaldy borrowed some smoke
Run on Sentence	My roommate was sleeping, we didn’t want to wake her up My roommate was sleeping. We didn’t want to wake her up
